25 Tips and Tricks Every Player Should Know
Whether you just started delivering food on a Scooter in Prague or you are grinding toward your first prestige reset, there is always something new to learn in Taxi Swiper. We compiled 25 tips from top players and our own playtesting sessions, organized into six categories so you can jump straight to what matters most. Controls Mastery
Getting comfortable with how your vehicle responds is the foundation of every successful run. These tips will help you turn faster, brake smarter, and avoid costly off-road penalties.
1. Swipe in the direction you want to go, not where you are
On mobile, many new players swipe from their vehicle toward the destination. Instead, swipe in the compass direction you need to turn. A quick upward swipe means accelerate forward; a left swipe means turn left at the next opportunity. This keeps your inputs predictable and consistent.
2. Use WASD over arrow keys on desktop
Arrow keys work fine, but WASD keeps your right hand free for mouse clicks. Clicking the road ahead sets a navigation waypoint, and having both hands active at once is critical during high-speed police chases or tight bus routes.
3. Tap once to set direction, hold to maintain speed
A single tap steers; holding the swipe maintains top speed. Learn the difference early. During deliveries in dense neighborhoods, you want short taps for precise turns. On long straight boulevards in Paris, hold the swipe to cruise.
4. Open the map before you need it
Press Space on desktop or pinch on mobile to open the full map overlay. Do this at the start of each mission to plan your route, not halfway through when you are already lost. The map shows your pickup, destination, and all road connections.
5. Release your finger to brake instantly
Lifting your finger on mobile or releasing all keys on desktop brings the vehicle to an immediate stop. This is faster than trying to counter-steer and can save a life when you are about to leave the road.
Navigation Tricks
Knowing the streets is half the battle. These tips help you find the fastest paths and avoid common routing mistakes across all three cities.
6. Learn the bridge crossings in Prague first
Prague's Vltava River splits the map. Memorize the two main bridge locations early, because getting stuck on the wrong bank with a timer running is the fastest way to lose a fare. Our Prague city guide has a full breakdown of every crossing.
7. Follow main roads when possible
It is tempting to cut through side streets, but main roads are wider and have fewer sharp turns. In Rome especially, the narrow alleyways look like shortcuts but often dead-end or loop back on themselves. Stick to the broad avenues until you know the layout.
8. Use the minimap corner indicator
The destination arrow at the edge of your screen points toward your target. Glance at it between turns to confirm you are heading in the right general direction before committing to a route.
9. Memorize one-way patterns in Paris
Paris has the most complex road layout of the three cities. Many of its wide boulevards channel traffic in one direction. Learning these patterns saves time because you will not drive three blocks only to discover you need to loop back.
10. Plan two-stop routes before you start moving
Some missions require a pickup and a drop-off. Open the map first, identify both locations, and plan a route that minimizes backtracking. The few seconds you spend planning often save 20 or more seconds of driving.
Earning Optimization
Money drives your progression in Taxi Swiper. These strategies will help you earn faster and spend smarter. For a deeper dive, read How to Earn Money Fast.
11. Always log in daily, even if you do not play
The daily login streak starts at $50 and grows by $25 for each consecutive day, capping at $200. A full week of logins earns you $875 in free cash. Breaking the streak resets you to $50, so even a 30-second login is worth it.
12. Complete weekly challenges before they reset
Weekly challenges refresh every seven days and offer bonus payouts you cannot get any other way. Prioritize the ones that align with whatever vehicle you are currently driving. Check our weekly challenges guide for strategies on clearing them fast.
13. Chase 5-star reviews on every delivery
Customer reviews range from 1 to 5 stars based on how quickly you deliver. A 5-star review pays a significant tip bonus compared to a 3-star. Speed upgrades and route knowledge directly translate to higher review averages.
14. Use the Scooter for quick early cash
The Scooter is free and its food delivery missions are short. In the early game, rapid short deliveries earn more per minute than slow Taxi rides, because you spend almost no time navigating. Grind Scooter missions until you can afford the Taxi.
15. Switch to higher-earning vehicles as soon as you unlock them
Each vehicle tier earns more per mission. Once you buy the Taxi, its ride fares outpace Scooter deliveries. Once you unlock the Police Car, chase bonuses surpass Taxi earnings. Always move up the ladder. Refer to the wiki for a full earnings table.
Upgrade Strategy
Upgrades compound over time, so choosing the right order matters more than most players realize.
16. Upgrade Earning before Speed early on
Each Earning upgrade gives you +10% income per level. In the first few hours of play, the extra money from Earning upgrades lets you afford new vehicles faster than Speed upgrades let you complete missions faster. Earning pays for itself.
17. Invest in Speed once you hit mid-game
After your Earning upgrade is at level 3 or 4, start alternating with Speed. Faster vehicles finish missions quicker, which means more missions per hour, which means more total income even if the per-mission rate is the same.
18. Save Lives upgrades for difficult cities
Lives upgrades (+1 life per level) are expensive. In Prague, the roads are forgiving and you rarely need extra lives. Save your money for Lives upgrades when you unlock Rome or Paris, where narrow streets and NPC traffic make off-road mistakes common.
19. Do not upgrade every vehicle equally
Focus your upgrades on the vehicle you are actively using. Spreading upgrades thin across multiple vehicles slows your overall progression. You can always come back and upgrade older vehicles once you prestige.
Map Knowledge
Each city has a personality. Knowing the quirks of each map gives you a measurable edge.
20. Prague is your training ground, not just a starting city
Prague is free and relatively simple, but it is also the ideal place to test new vehicles and practice advanced techniques. Before taking a newly purchased vehicle into Rome, do a few runs in Prague to learn how it handles.
21. Rome rewards patience
Rome's dense network of streets means destinations are usually close, but the route is rarely straight. Drive carefully, avoid off-road penalties, and collect steady fares. Rushing in Rome leads to more lost lives than any other city.
22. Paris pays the most but costs the most
At $2,500 to unlock, Paris is a serious investment. But its missions pay significantly higher fares. Make sure you have a vehicle upgraded to at least Speed level 3 before committing to Paris full-time, or the complex intersections will eat into your earnings.
Advanced Techniques
Once you have the basics down, these techniques separate average players from top leaderboard contenders.
23. Time your prestige for maximum multiplier value
The prestige system resets your progress after you unlock all 8 vehicles, but grants a permanent earnings multiplier. Do not prestige the moment you unlock the Garbage Truck. Instead, grind a few more hours at peak earnings to build a cash reserve, then prestige. The multiplier will make your second playthrough dramatically faster. Read The Prestige System Explained for exact numbers.
24. Stack daily streaks with weekly challenges
Plan your play sessions so that your daily login streak bonus lands on the same days you are pushing to finish weekly challenges. The combined income from streak cash, challenge rewards, and regular fares creates earning spikes that accelerate vehicle purchases.
25. Watch NPC traffic patterns, they are not random
The 120+ NPC vehicles on each map follow repeating routes. After a few sessions, you will start to recognize where clusters of traffic appear. Avoid those intersections during time-sensitive missions, or slow down in advance to weave through safely. Losing a life to traffic is the most preventable mistake in the game.
Putting It All Together
No single tip will transform your game overnight, but combining several of them creates a compounding effect. Start by nailing the controls, then layer in route planning and earning optimization. By the time you reach your first prestige, these habits will be second nature and your leaderboard rank will reflect it.
